Wayfarers has on the park a small shop selling the basics, gifts, some tools and spares ,Calor Gas and lovely little Cornish produce, the local village has a store , post office and two village pubs serving lunch and evening menus being just under 1 mile away from Wayfarers. There is a country bus service from just outside of the park to link us with Marazion and Penzance, the return drops you at the park gates. We also have toilets/showers and a laundry maintained to a high standard which is regularly inspected by Tourist Board inspectors/ AA. The Tourist information room on the park is a wonderful collection of leaflets and maps for those last minute holiday ideas and directions.
At Wayfarers we are fully licensed for 60 pitches but opted to work with only 32.
This means that we can use all perimeter pitches giving a lovely open aspect to the park. Instead of having cars next to your unit we have also developed the idea of allocating a hard standing close by, this ensures you always have your own parking bay, it is secure and cars are not cluttering your views across the park. As we are on a hill the TV reception is fine , you don't normally need any extra boosters, we are under a BT hotspot for any internet usage and most mobile phones have some reception. The two local village pubs also have free Wi-Fi for customers.
The touring pitches in the top field are all hard standings with a gravel base so both your caravan and the awning are on it, they do not require special pegs and are easy to peg into. This also means that you can put down any floor covering you want in your awning so long as a hard standing pitch is booked. They have 16 amp electric but we do not have water at each pitch, however there are ample water points around the park and you are never far away. On arrival you are always escorted over to the bay by Elaine or Steve and advised where everything is, allocated your car bay then left to settle and begin your holiday!
The lower field is a mixed area with camping and touring so has some bays which are hard standing and all the others are grass, all the touring pitches are hard standing, we do have 6 tenting bays with 16 amp electric but they do book out early, these are all grass. The camping bays each house two tents so there is a limit to the size of the tenting units we can accommodate for fire regulations.
The camping field also has a designated BBQ area if you forgot to bring your own but it is also fine to BBQ at your own pitch so long as the BBQ is raised off the ground, we keep a small supply of bricks to borrow. There are two lovely flower covered Gazebos for you to use with benches inside for picnics.
At Wayfarers we very much wanted to keep the idea that it was almost like pitching in a garden or meadow, keeping the cars close but not on the pitches helps with this idea and as we are developed over 5 acres and 32 pitches it keeps a wonderful open aspect, even when we are full there is still plenty of space, this is why we now run with 80% return guests and operate a discount card which they can use every year *.
